Allow me to share a bit about myself…
From an early age, I have always loved writing. My parents would tell you that I had (and still have) a very vivid imagination, and I try to channel that into creating stories that my readers will love.
English was my favourite subject at school (a long time ago) and when I wasn’t writing I would always be found tucked under my duvet with my nose in a book. Famous Five and The Secret Seven were high up there alongside Mallory Towers. For me, the magic of reading a book was something that I couldn’t get enough of. It transports you to another world, a world where you can be anything that you dream of. It’s just wonderful.
When I was fourteen I received the best Christmas present that I could ever wish for – a typewriter. I immediately loaded it with paper and started to write my very first story in print, “The Adventures of Detective Dopeyworth”. It was such a joy to create my first book and I was delighted with the result, as were my parents who showed it off to everyone that they knew.
Of course I was fourteen and life took over and my first story was tucked in a drawer and forgotten about for nearly forty years. It was only when I was selling my parents’ home that I found the precious manuscript and decided to share it with the world.
Now, at the age of 55, I feel that my writing career has just taken off. “The Adventures of Detective Dopeyworth is published and has received fantastic reviews. The second book in the series, “Detective Dopeyworth and the Mince Pie Mystery” will be out later this year and my latest book “The Owl Who Could Only Growl” will be released in June.
I hope that this website encourages all you budding writers out there as I share my author journey with you. I will be sharing tips on writing and successful marketing and would love to hear from you too. The author community is so wonderful and it’s important that we support one another.
