About Elizabeth
I've loved stories for as long as I can remember. As a child I was happiest curled up with a book, disappearing into adventures where anything felt possible. Before long, I began creating worlds of my own.
When I was fourteen, my parents gave me a typewriter for Christmas. I couldn't wait to use it, and it was there that I wrote the very first adventures of Detective Dopeyworth. Like so many childhood dreams, the manuscript was eventually packed away as life became busy, remaining hidden in a drawer for almost forty years before I stumbled across it again while clearing my parents' home.
Rediscovering those pages reminded me just how much stories had always meant to me - and gave me the confidence to finally begin the writing journey I'd dreamed about for so many years.
Today, I write children's books that help young readers understand friendship, kindness, emotions and the world around them through unforgettable characters and meaningful adventures. Whether I'm introducing children to Clarence the Owl or helping families talk about more difficult subjects through books like When Oscar Lost His Feathers, my hope is always the same - that every story leaves a child feeling a little more understood, a little more confident, and inspired to imagine what's possible.
